The Nagging Dark Pattern

Violates: EU Digital Services Act (DSA)

What is it?

Repeatedly interrupting the user's task with requests or prompts that are not related to their primary goal, often to wear down their resistance over time.

Why it's harmful

It creates a frustrating user experience designed to break the user's willpower, eventually leading them to consent just to make the interruptions stop (consent fatigue).

Example in the wild

"An app that asks "Turn on notifications?" every single time the user opens it, even after they have explicitly clicked "No" multiple times."

How to fix it

If a user declines a request, respect their choice. Do not ask again unless the user initiates a feature that explicitly requires that permission.
